Cost reduction and optimisation
The integration of the work carried out by AgID to identify the needs of museums and users allows for cost containment and improved portal quality
Cultural heritage merits appropriate digital showcases, yet many institutions have systems that do not accurately reflect its true value. High operating costs and vendor lock-in of proprietary solutions divert budgets toward complex IT management rather than enhancement.
This inefficiency directly impacts users by hindering access to and enjoyment of heritage due to a lack of structured data and optimised user experiences.
MUSEUM was established with the objective of reversing this trend.
The MUSEUM model is a proposed framework for the creation of museum portals. The purpose of the model is to replace costly ad hoc design processes with a common, reusable foundation.
The project is grounded in both Italian (AgID) and international (Schema.org) standards, with the objective of developing portals of significant value that align with the requirements of museums and users.
The implementation of this product would lead to substantial savings in terms of time and financial resources for the institution. Standardisation is a key element in optimising budgets, thereby ensuring a return on investment that is proportional to the extent of the digital presence.
The structured data on which the model is based guarantees accuracy, efficient reuse, and true interoperability with any external platform
The adoption of schema.org as the foundation for structured data has been demonstrated to yield optimal results in search engines (indexing) and to prepare collected data for innovation in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Moreover, the implementation of an international standard has the potential to facilitate the application of this model beyond its national context
Development based on the work of AgID (Agenzia per l'Italia Digitale, Agency for Digital Italy) ensures compliance, integration with the national public ecosystem, and an optimal user experience, based on research carried out by the agency itself
The integration of the work carried out by AgID to identify the needs of museums and users allows for cost containment and improved portal quality
The data has been optimised for searching and the platform provides adequate protection against obsolescence, ensuring its future functionality
Your team can focus on cultural enhancement rather than software maintenance
While initially developed for museums, the model is designed to be adaptable for use in archives and libraries, promoting cultural collaboration
